Helping Children in Russia

The Milk Fund: Nutrition for orphaned children
When WACAP began working in the Russian Far East, we discovered that the most pressing need of orphaned children was food. Many orphanages simply couldn’t afford enough milk—babies sometimes had to drink tea in their bottles instead.

We created the Russia Milk Fund to meet this need. Initially, this fund provided supplemental nutrition for 300 infants and young children. Today, we’re feeding more than 500 children each month in orphanages in both Far East and Central Russia.

Through generous gifts from our donors, we also provide other basic needs to Russian orphans, such as hygiene products, winter coats, diapers and school supplies.

To date, due to financial constraints, Russia Milk Fund support has been limited to only those children with the most acute health problems. This year, WACAP has committed to bringing this critical program to all the children in the institutions served by the Milk Fund in three Russian regions. WACAP recently received a $25,000 P&G Live, Learn and Thrive grant from Procter & Gamble to help us expand the Russia Milk Fund. Now we need your support to ensure that every child in our partner institutions in Russia has a chance to grow strong and healthy. Remember that every dollar you give, up to $25,000, is matched by the P&G grant! Please make a gift to the Russia Milk Fund today. Your online donation will be processed through PayPal on a secure server. Or call us at 206-575-4550 to donate.
