Finding Homes for Children in India
Since 1978, WACAP has brought over 1,100 children from India home to loving, adoptive parents. WACAP is licensed by CARA, India’s central adoption authority, and with decades of experience serving children in India, our adoption experts are ready to help you find the child waiting to join your family.
About the Children
We can help you adopt children 2 years old up to pre-teens, and occasionally, you may also be able to adopt siblings. Children with minor health and developmental concerns need adoptive parents, and if you’re of Indian heritage and living in the U.S., CARA will consider matching you first with children who have these needs. If your family is not of Indian heritage, you’re welcome to apply to adopt waiting children; these children are typically older or have individual medical or developmental needs. If you’d like to learn more about any of the children in need of adoption, please contact us.
Adopting From India
Both married couples and singles are welcome to adopt from India.
The Indian central adoption authority has recently implemented new procedures designed to reach more children who need families and to streamline adoption. We’re happy to begin to see the positive impact of these changes. As you move forward with adopting from India, our staff will keep you informed of the most current developments.
If you’d like more information about the process or fees associated with adoption from India, or if you have questions about your adoption application, please contact us. Watch our pre-recorded webinar to learn more or sign up for a live webinar with our staff.
To adopt from India, you must work with Hague-accredited homestudy and placing agencies.
WACAP is one of a select group of agencies accredited under the Hague Convention on International Adoption and is proud to be recognized for upholding the highest ethical, legal and professional standards.
